Ile de Glenans
Ile de Glenans

We left the anchorage outside Audierne reasonably promptly as we wanted to use the wind to try and get as far towards the Île edge Glénans as possible before it shifted. It was a bit bumpy but we made good progress and were entertained by some dolphins on the way. We rounded Pointe de Penmarc'h - a constant in the weather forecast as it's the end of the area from Cap de la Hague. Now we move on to the area from Penmarc'h to l'anse de l'Aiguillon. Pretty foreboding but nothing like the rounding of the Raz!

Onwards towards nicer weather and lesser tides! We managed to sail most of the way, slipping to the south of our course, so we came in from that side of the Glénans. Our first anchorage by Ile Penfret was a bit rolly due to being swept by the tide across the swell. So for the first time ever, we moved when the half-boats were happy! I guess we could have stuck out a stern anchor but moving gave us a chance to see some more of the islands. We moved up to anchor by La Chambre - but it was a bit skinny on water. We didn't touch at low tide but it was close!

The islands were stunning. It's claimed to be as close to the Caribbean as you can get in this side of the Atlantic and I have to say, they're not wrong!
