Fun and games at night
Last nights entertainment was dealing with the gennaker furling line. It had got itself wrapped around the line we used to hold the sail to the bowsprit. This gave us two problems - the first being how to furl the sail. We managed to handle that ok, with Anthony and myself on the foredeck - and we were furling due to lack of wind rather than too much which helped. The second problem was that as the sail hadn’t fully furled, when we re-hoisted it and tried to unfurl it - we got the classic ‘hourglass’ wrap. Another drop, bit of untangling on the deck and a re-hoist put the sail back in action.
As the wind had dropped and gone further behind us, we were dropping the mainsail when the above game started. Since then we’ve been under gennaker alone and may put the parasailor up this morning. We’re trying to keep the speed up as we can see a possible weather window for Pitcairn. The speed required isn’t too high, but we can also see a period of very light winds on Thursday and Friday. We’ll keep on pushing along as best we can with the winds we have ;)
