A day we'll never forget
A day we'll never forget

Monday August 21st 2017 is a day we’ll never forget - because for us, it never happened! A few minutes ago, we moved our clocks to Samoa time, which meant going from UTC-11 to UTC+13 - in effect, we crossed the date line. Although we’ve not crossed the antimeridian, Samoa is west of the date line for commercial and political reasons. Their partners in Australia, New Zealand and Asia were all a day ahead of them which meant they only had 3 working days a week where they overlapped. Monday in NZ was Sunday in Samoa, and a Samoan Friday was already the weekend for the Kiwis. So Samoa skipped Friday 30 December 2011, and joined their partners on the other side of the dateline. This is quite a big deal for us - it now means we’re just 1 timezone away from New Zealand and we are now ahead of everyone in the UK and Europe.

We won’t cross 180 degrees and into the Eastern hemisphere until we leave Minerva reef, heading for NZ. Thats more than a month away.
