OK, enough of the breweries, lets get back to the plan. We provisioned hard in Fremantle as its the last stop on the west coast for lots of things that we may need. Oil (engine, outboard, hydraulic, gearbox, olive and sunflower), flour (high protein white, wholemeal, rye, rice), chocolate, beer brewing kits, ginger and champagne yeast (for the ginger beer, naturally) and much much more! Its been quite an effort.
I serviced the engines, the outboard, went up the mast, all the usual stuff. We sat out the cyclone (just moderate winds and rain for us), but now its time to get back out there! We fuelled up and then headed the 10nm to Rottnest island. We’ll spend a few days here walking and getting back into the swing of cruising before the overnight trip to the Abrohlos islands.
Rottnest is famous for its quokkas, also known as the short-tailed scrub wallaby. They’re exceedingly cute and have been so hand-fed by tourists that they are very tame and up for photographs.
We got a few pics and videos - but will probably move anchorage tomorrow to see another bit of the island. We’ve done the main part (ie. quokka central).
