A month at sea!
A month at sea!

We’ve been at sea over a month! Didn’t think it would take this long to cross 3600nm but the light winds at the start (and throughout) really cost us. Such is the pleasure of being dependent on the wind ;) The trade winds should have been SE giving us a decent beam reach most of the way, but we’ve had more E/ENE winds and done a lot more downwind/broad reach sailing.

Yesterday we had classic anti-cyclone conditions - lots of gloomy cloud, rain and fairly strong winds with a pretty large sea. We made good progress though we were well reefed down. Overnight the sea calmed down, as did the wind - and now we’re only making 3.5 knots with 12knots of wind well aft of the beam. The night sky was fantastic for my watch, and the sky is very clear at the moment. We expect light winds for a little while now - and will probably resort to engine at some point.

We hope to reach Pitcairn by Wednesday and still haven’t totally ruled out a stop at Henderson yet. Just 352 nautical miles to go!
