Having dived the pass yesterday we had a fair idea of tides today so when we left the dock and raised sail, we managed to sail straight to the entrance, out through the pass and are now underway to our 3rd atoll, Tahanea.
Tahanea is an uninhabited atoll and is now a park, though it seems that does not prevent fishing. There is a village which is only occupied when copra is being harvested. Apart from that, it sees a few yachts a year and that's it.
It's going to be busier this year as it seems most of our little fleet from Rikitea are going there. 3 of them are in Raroia at present - where Kon Tiki landed. That gets a lot more boats so we are skipping it. Also in Raroia at present are our friends on Nautilus who are heading to Tahanea at some point. Hopefully we will still find uncrowned anchorages and few other boats!
For now we are doing 7knots towards Tahanea and are aiming to arrive on Monday dawn which is also high tide. We think we can get in for a few hours after so should give us some light. So it's back to night watches for the next 2 nights - at least we have the moon all night!
