Its been a slower day today. The wind has eased and the sea is much calmer - so conditions are very pleasant. We've seen plenty of squalls, reefed for some but they've all missed us. Our luck can't continue too much longer!
We now have 730nm to go and looking at the weather, decided we'll aim for a Sunday arrival. This means we miss the worst of the wind and swell, and should have some NW breeze in the last day to Marsden Cove (where we clear into New Zealand). Our target speed is a very easy 5 knots, so we'll keep close to that at least until Thursday. We're expecting more rain and squalls over the coming days, but think we'll miss the heavier weather.
Solar is still working well - batteries got to full today and we made some water. We had to motor for 30mins when we lost all wind but no we're going too fast again! Temperature is cooling down each day - it has been very pleasant today but each night seems to need more clothes (up to long trousers, jumpers and socks at this point).
Not seeing much out here. No other boats, ships, dolphins, whales or planes. Just the odd satellite... The only downside so far is the forecast for cloud for tomorrow nights full lunar eclipse...
