It's definitely worth it though. Even though it cost us a boathook trying to pick up a mooring outside Fort Bay to clear in. In fact we nearly binned it there as it was so hard to get safely on a mooring and then risk the dinghy trip in. However the weather was set to improve, so we persisted.
One of the main attractions is the stunning diving. The whole area is a national park and the sea life has really benefitted from that. You have to dive with a dive shop (like more and more areas these days) but the result is stunning. In 3 dives during 1 day we saw turtles, sharks, rays on a cleaning station and 2 seahorses that were incredibly hard to spot. I dived with Sea Saba and they were fantastic with lots of info before we arrived and bookings taxi tour for us after the diving. Definitely recommended.
We ended up moored next to another Privilege - a 495. They dinghied over and invited us for drinks. We ended up having a great evening with Sean and Cynthia on Arkouda and their friends Ed and Annette. I love the 495's layout, especially the master cabin!
We had a day ashore including a taxi tour with Wayne. He was very good. Managed to put us at the vantage point above the incredible Sabean runway just as a plane arrived!
The whole island is full of dramatic landscapes.
This is Wells Bay where we moored, first looking over Arkouda and then the next day from ashore
Saba really should be on everyone's list to visit though we think that next time we may take the ferry from St Martin! We've done the Sabean roll enough now :)
Time to move on. Alas the wind turned SE so our plan to head to St Kitts was out. So we made some East by heading to St Barts. Even that was a beat, albeit a much easier one!
