We had thought we might escape to one of the motus on the surrounding reef but the weather was a bit windy. A good day for a hike! Anthony and I headed up Mokoto - the second highest peak on a Mangareva and got some great views of the surrounding reef and the anchorage. It was quite a steep climb in places over slippery pine needles, but definitely worth it. However I think we'll pass on climbing Mount Duff!! On the way down, I managed to get a couple of pamplemousse - the grapefruit like fruit that grows in abundance here. It's supposedly the original citrus fruit. How true that is, I don't know, but it's much sweeter than grapefruit. Very tasty indeed!
