The Airport
Two flights a week arrive and leave from Mangareva Airport, so it's not particularly busy. The airport isn't actually on Mangareva, but on one of the larger motus which form the outer reef of the atoll. Occasionally a private jet arrives - last week it was to bring the guests to the super yacht Plan B. Though Plan B is equipped with a helicopter, that has insufficient range to bring the guests out...
We snuck ashore to get some photos on Monday as flights are normally Tuesday and Saturday. The dock was conveniently quiet with no-one at all onshore..
Everywhere was totally deserted which allowed us to explore a little...
The rain has now reached us onboard, but hopefully it will pass and give us a chance to explore the reef side of the motu. We are anchored in a nice deep pool a little way down from the airport. The only bad thing about the anchorage is the invasion of flies - apparently quite common around here.
